Nelson Thomas

Public Accountant and Registered Tax Agent

Nelson is the owner and director of Focus Accounting and Financial Group Pty Ltd which he started in 2004 as Focus Tax and Accounting. He has almost 30 years of experience working in the accounting and finance industry. Nelson has always been keen to utilise his accounting and taxation expertise to help small businesses get ahead. He is passionate about seeing clients succeed and supporting them on their path to prosperity.

Accountant

James has been with us as an accountant for five years, and is currently completing his studies in accounting. He specialises in accounting and BAS lodgements for our bigger clients and assists with preparation of financial and management reports. James is passionate about the insights management accounts give businesses and how they enable managers to make the right business decisions.

Accountant

Ben has been working in business services accounting since 2008 and is a qualified CPA accountant. He started with Focus in 2019 and prepares financial and management reports as well as tax returns. Ben provides a high level of client support and assists with Vend queries.

Warren Nichols

Accountant

Warren is our longest-serving employee, having started working with us in 2008. He is known for being a hard worker, and always gets the job done. Warren focuses on accounting and BAS lodgements for not-for-profit clients and assists with the preparation of financial and management reports.

Sophie Marteau

Administration & Accounts Receivable

Sophie has many years of experience working in accounting firms providing support to accountants and has also run a mobile catering business in Ballarat for 10 years. Since she started with Focus in January 2019, she has become a critical part of the Focus team, responsible for coordinating the scheduling of our client jobs and keeping them on track with regular checkpoints. She also handles our general incoming communications and monitors ASIC compliance for our company clients.

Client Service Coordinator

Hannah has been with Focus since 2013. She coordinates entity setups and related changes for clients and assists with gathering information and meeting ATO lodgement requirements.

Jacqui Dance

Bookkeeper

Our bookkeeper, Jacqui, has been with us since 2009. Jacqui processes most client Instalment Activity Statements (IAS’s), liaises with the ATO to manage client ATO debts and does a lot of follow up to ensure our Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) clients meet their annual compliance requirements.

Genna has been with Focus Accounting and Financial Group since March 2015. At the centre of Genna’s invaluable work for us is enhancement of our relationships with clients. This involves marketing, website development and project management. She also manages the payroll services offered to our clients and supports our admin team.
